Meet the Seniors With Skills Team

Jaya Manjunath, Founder

Jaya has been volunteering at over 5 retirement homes over the past 8 years and is extremely passionate about seniors' health and overall wellbeing. She will be enterring George Washington School of Medicine this fall and hopes to continue serving seniors and underserved populations through the medical field. She hopes to continue doing everything she can to end social isolation of senior citizens in America.

Adrianna Durkin, Chief Financial Officer

Adrianna is pursuing her Masters in Accountancy with an expected graduation date of May 2020. She plans to begin her career in public accounting as an Assurance Associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers next Fall.  Personal health and wellness is a priority to her and she hopes to encourage this in others’ lives through support and involvement in Seniors with Skills.

Barbara Karasinski, Lead Matching Coordinator

Barbara has over 20 years working at Harvard University. She has succeeded as an office manager and executive assistant to high level professors with solid skills in administration, customer service, event planning and supervisory role.

Since beginning her career at Harvard University the desire to contribute to the community played a large part in her personal and professional life. The opportunity to help families who lived in shelters, and who were low-income led to the creation and organization of a gift drive that spanned her employment with Harvard University. Barbara's volunteering with Muscular Dystrophy telethon, Chelsea Soldiers home, Disabled and Limbless Veterans organization, Operation Troop Support, and most recently Senior’s with Skills has played a large part in her life.

Nam Tran Nguyen, Chief Publcist

Nam Tran is  currently a Biology Major at St. Bonaventure studying pre-med. Because of the disparities present concerning opportunities provided to seniors, she loves being able to participate in giving back and helping a group of the community that can often be neglected. She states, "As I spend more time in Seniors with Skills, I hope to show how anyone of any age is deserving of opportunities for happiness and success."

Sonal Mahindroo is a Biology major at St. Bonaventure University! She joined Seniors with Skills because it's a very rewarding way to make an impact on someone. She states, "just spending time with the residents really makes their day; it makes me happy to put a smile on their faces every time I go."

Sonal Mahindroo, Volunteer Matching Coordinator

Brady Nicosia, Volunteer Matching Coordinator

Brady Nicosia is a Biology major at St. Bonaventure and he volunteers weekly with Seniors With Skills at Pines Rehabilitation Center. He feels he has experienced self-growth through the talks and interactions that he has had with the residents. He finds matching new volunteers to work extremely rewarding as he is making a difference in the lives of both volunteers and seniors.

Rachael Kang,  Fundraising Officer

Rachael Kang is a senior Health & Society major at St. Bonaventure University. She is from Jeonju, South Korea, and has been studying in the United States for five years. In terms of Senior with Skills, she has been volunteering for almost a year now, and enjoys spending time with the seniors because "they have helped me to realize the importance of helping others who are isolated in our society and the importance of living my life to the fullest". She hopes to spend more time with the seniors in the future by helping them use technology and by making holiday cards with them!
